Dairy Cow Birthing Center Program Coordinator: Temporary Summer Position Available with NYAAC

Job Title: Dairy Cow Birthing Center Programming Coordinator  
(Part-time, Temporary Position, Contractor)  

Job Description:  
The NY Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Dairy Cow Birthing Center Programming Coordinator on a part-time, temporary basis as a contractor. This position is essential for the successful execution of the 2024 Dairy Cow Birthing Center at the Great NYS Fair, including the coordination of scheduled events and the Aspiring Veterinarians Program.  

Timeline:  

  • April 2024: 2 hours/week working closely with Hannah Johnson, NYAAC Communication Manager, to create a scheduled event program during the 2024 NYS Fair Dairy Cow Birthing Center.  

  • May 2024: 2 hours/week organizing details, ordering materials, and coordinating practicing/experienced veterinarians for the Aspiring Veterinarians Program.  

  • June and July 2024: 3 hours/week continuation of organizing details, ordering materials, and coordinating veterinarians. Additionally, promoting scheduled events and the Aspiring Veterinarians Program via social media, website, and NYAAC member organizations.  

  • August - September 2nd, 2024: 12+ hours/week promoting events via various channels and being on-site for each program during the NYS fair. Tentatively, there will be eight 60–90-minute programs scheduled during the NYS fair. 




Job Responsibilities:  
Work closely with NYAAC Communications Manager, Hannah Johnson, before her scheduled leave to schedule and organize programming, coordinate speakers, and order materials and supplies. After Hannah begins her leave, this candidate will promote the program of events and facilitate and implement programming during the NYS fair at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center exhibit. They will serve as the main contact for hosts and participants, ensuring the success of each scheduled program. It is a requirement that the selected candidate be present at the NYS Fair on the days when programming occurs. It is also expected that the selected candidate provides applicable results and impact following the conclusion of the scheduled programs. 

Education and Skill Requirements:  

  • Knowledge of animal agriculture, specifically dairy.  

  • Experience in communication, administration, event planning, content creation, and graphic design preferred.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people. 

  • Must be motivated to work independently from a home office before the NYS fair and collaborate effectively as part of a larger team during the 13-day exhibit.  

Compensation:  

  • A monthly stipend is available for this contracted position based on expected work hours. The stipend will be based on expected time worked and the applicant’s experience and qualifications. 

  • Travel reimbursement is available for travel to and from the NYS fairgrounds during the 2024 NYS Fair.
