Our first host farm from Ontario County will be Hemdale Farms. Join us on the first day of the fair to meet owner Dale Hemminger and his amazing team!

Celebrating its fifth year, the Dairy Cow Birthing Center is excited to bring “udder miracles” to the New York State Fair from six Ontario County dairy farms, August 23- September 4, 2017 in Syracuse. This exhibit provides you the opportunity to witness the true miracle of life, ask questions about agriculture and meet a farmer up close and personal. We hope you’re able to join us and be part of the exhibit that attracted more than 380,000 people last year.

The process of being a host farm for the Dairy Cow Birthing Center is not something that comes together overnight. Host farms not only provide their cows for the exhibit, but also their time – and it’s a process that began over 9 months ago! The 36 “mothers-to-be” are gearing up for their travel to Syracuse where the birth of a calf signifies the beginning of not only a new life, but the beginning of milk production. New York is proud to be the third leading producer of milk in the nation with over 5,000 family farms and over 625,000 cows.

Be sure to put the Dairy Cow Birthing Center on your list “must sees” at the State Fair and come meet the farm owners and employees from the following farms:

  • Aug. 23-25, 2017 – Hemdale Farms, Seneca Castle, NY

The DeBoover family from Phelps, NY will be our third host farm at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center.

  • Aug. 26-27, 2017 – Lawnhurst Farms, Stanley, NY
  • Aug. 28-29, 2017 – J. DeBoover Farm, Phelps, NY
  • Aug. 30-31, 2017 – Spring Hope Dairy, Clifton Springs, NY
  • Sept. 1-2, 2017 – Willow Bend Farm, Clifton Springs, NY
  • Sept. 3-4, 2017 – Will-O-Crest Farms, Clifton Springs, NY

The team from Spring Hope Dairy will be joining us on the last days of August before kicking off Labor Day weekend.

Each farm will provide six expecting mothers and will share their passion for dairy farming and personal stories as they visit with all of you. These family farms are great examples of the labor of love that it takes to farm in New York State. The farm owners, employees and numerous industry leaders will be available every day at the exhibit to answer your questions, share experiences on and off the farm, and help everyone better understand modern animal agriculture.
