Did you hear? Governor Cuomo announced today that “New York is officially America’s Yogurt Capital.” The Governor has made a big deal about yogurt production in New York State, recognizing both the increasing popularity in the healthy treat, as well as the additional benefits to the dairy industry and our rural communities, and he even hosted a Yogurt Summit, the first of its kind, last summer.
In just the last four years, yogurt production has increased nearly fourfold due to the Chobani-craze and the popularity of protein-packed Greek-style yogurt. This renewed interest and increase in production is a win all around for New York yogurt companies such as Chobani, FAGE, Mueller, and Siggi’s, but also for dairy farmers and consumers. Thanks Governor Cuomo for helping make this happen! I headed to my fridge for a late night yogurt snack right now!
