Welcome to our new website! Scratch that – blog site!
Here you will find lots of information about animal agriculture, and in particular dairy farms in New York State. I want to talk about what dairy farmers do, why they do it, why it is important, what they don’t do and share with you some interesting tidbits and commentary along the way. Some of the articles contain information I have compiled for you, some of it I am sharing with you from other sources, and some of it is my plain and simple opinion.
Who am I, you ask? I’m Jessica Ziehm, the Executive Director of NYAAC, but also the granddaughter, daughter and wife of a dairy farmer, and also a farm mom of two little ones. I was raised on a small Jersey farm (the kind with brown cows) in eastern New York, was crowned the New York State Dairy Princess back in my day, studied agriculture and communications in college, worked for several different ag organizations up and down the East Coast, and I am now here – talking to you!
So as you may be able to tell, my gift of gab, my love for the farmer and my infatuation with the amazing dairy cow and her delicious products has me well-suited to blab about dairy farms all day long. And that’s what I intend to do.
But rest assured, I’ll try to keep my posts short and sweet, all the while, giving you information that is relevant, timely and interesting. You can follow along here – or on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn too! Thanks for finding us!
