On August 25, 2014, we experienced a first at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center. After checking a full-term cow, we realized that there was a problem. First, we thought she may be carrying twins, then it was determined by the veterinarian that this calf was probably deformed and an emergency c-section would be required to try and save both the cow and the calf. Here is the story of that afternoon as witnessed by fairgoers and told on Twitter. A very big thank you to the three skilled veterinarians – Drs. Sabine Mann, Wade Walker and Tyson Benson – for your skilled hands, patience and willingness to share this experience with all at the fair. And to Walnut Ridge Dairy – thank you for trusting us and being part of this educational exhibit that showcases the care we provide our animals.
