The 2021 Dairy Cow Birthing Center at the Great NYS Fair

A traditional end of the summer ritual in New York State might look something like this: back to school shopping, sleeping in, staying up late for a few more days, boating on a nearby lake, and most importantly, a trip to the Dairy Cow Birthing Center! It may signify the end of summer and beginning of the new school year, but let’s not rush through it too quickly because there is so much to see at the 2021 Great New York State Fair after being canceled last year. 

We’re excited to continue to feature live births daily at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center beginning August 20st leading up to Labor Day, September 6th. As one of the top attractions at the New York State Fair, this is the ideal opportunity to stop by and learn about the dairy industry straight from dozens of dairy farmers and industry volunteers. Dairy farming is a labor of love, and we look forward to sharing not only our livelihood with you, but our passion and commitment to this line of work.  

In addition to all the traditional attractions we offer at this free educational exhibit, there are some new and improved items to highlight this year:

-Live WebCams – A live feed will continue to be streamed on our YouTube channel @NYAnimalAg. This year we will have our Calf Cam so you can keep an eye on our newest additions from the comfort of your own home.

-Ag Educational Wall – this 28ft wall will feature some of the most amazing details about how milk and other dairy products get from NY farms to your tables. You will be able to interact and learn through engaging imagery and fun activities. We cannot wait for you to try it out.

-Living the Life of a Dairy Cow - You will be able to see up close and personal how modern dairy cows live in real-life stalls with temperature-controlled fans and sprinkler systems. 

- Dani and Firefly - Our life-size ceramic cow sculptures will making their in-person debut at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center this year! You will be able to see the work of two talented NY artists and observe their interpretations of the NY dairy industry through their creative imagery.

The Intense milk lineup from Upstate Milk returns for you to get your protein fix and we are excited to be offering single serve cheese options this year as well! We will continue to offer free text messaging so you can be kept up to date on the next calving, future calvings, and the status of our udder miracles. Just text MOO to 24587. The “bovine backscratcher” is back so come check out how cows stay comfortable and get a personal massage anytime they want. The “Wow that Cow” trivia wheel returns and so does Bertha, our beautiful 15’ tall bovine blimp!
