Did you know that June is a very special month for the dairy industry?
In many parts of the United States, the chilly spring days have become fewer and fewer and hot, humid afternoons cause farm workers to wipe their brow. June 20th is officially the first day of summer, but June 1st is the start of National Dairy Month! Dairy products are a delicious and nutritious part of our diet that come from dairy cows living on farms. The cows, and those who take care of them, work hard to make milk available that is turned into so many American favorites including cheese and ice cream! This is definitely a cause for celebration, both on and off the farm.
This year we wanted to share with you a few ways you can join in the celebration on social media, at home with your family, or out and about in your community. We created the calendar below and a list of links that will help you to become more involved with dairy farmers and other industry professionals that help get the food from the farms to your table.
Numerous dairy and animal ag organizations host special events and launch fun and interactive social media campaigns during this time of the year, so be sure to check out all of the awesome opportunities. The New York Farm Bureau has put together their own calendar full of trivia and fun facts about dairy cows, products, and dairy farm life.
